CLEARWATER – A resident of a Clearwater apartment complex has filed a suit over injuries he claims he sustained when a grill he was using exploded.

Ethan Jacob Freese filed a complaint on March 28 in the 6th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Pinellas County against PSREG Gateway North LLC, VR Gateway North Holdings Limited Partnership and Venterra Realty Management Co. Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 10, 2016, while a resident at the defendants' Gateway North Apartments, plaintiff operated the grill located in the common area on the property when suddenly and without warning the grill exploded, causing extensive burns to his abdomen, arms, and legs. As a result, Freese claims he suffered physical injuries, loss of earnings and incurred medical bills.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to properly control and maintain the grill.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for damages, plus appropriate interest, costs and such other relief as the court deems just and proper. He is represented by C. Steven Yerrid and Heather N. Barnes of The Yerrid Law Firm in Tampa.
