Duke Energy seeks more than $7,000 for damage to utility pole because of accident

CLEARWATER – An energy company alleges one of its utility poles in St. Petersburg was damaged as a result of a motor vehicle accident.

Duke Energy of Florida filed a complaint on March 27 in the 6th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Pinellas County against Diane J. Lacognata and Belva Dawn Cole alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 12, 2015, it sustained damage to one of its utility poles after it was hit by Lacognata's vehicle as a result of a collision between the two defendants. The plaintiff alleges it was forced to repair the damage at the expense of $7,000.07 and that the defendants have refused to pay for damages.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants in the amount of $7,000.07, plus costs, attorney's fees, interest, and other relief the court deems just. It is represented by Laura O. Zborowski of Bobo, Ciotoli, White & Russell PA in Palm Beach Gardens.
