CLEARWATER – Two parents are suing a St. Petersburg campground after their child tripped and fell into the embers of a fire.

Lauren Patterson and Bradley B. Beasley Sr., as the natural parents and legal guardians of Bradley B. Beasley Jr., filed a complaint on March 27 in the 6th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Pinellas County against Kampgrounds of America Inc. and Lori Hight alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov.5, 2016, their minor child tripped and fell into the lit embers of the campfire ring the family had used and sustained severe burns. The plaintiff holds Kampgrounds of America Inc. and Hight responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to warn guests of the potential tripping hazard of the unleveled grassy area near the fire ring and failed to instruct guests on the proper method for extinguishing campfires.

The plaintiffs seek judgment against defendants and request a trial by jury. They are represented by Christopher N. Ligori of Christopher N. Ligori & Associates in Tampa.
