Man accuses Adventist Health System/Sunbelt Inc. of negligence after ER visit

Medical malpractice 01

ORLANDO – A man alleges he suffered further injury as a result of a hospital's failure to timely treat him.

Zachary D. Oliver filed a complaint on March 20 in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Orange County against Adventist Health System/Sunbelt Inc., doing business as Florida Hospital - Orlando, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 4, 2014, he visited the defendant's emergency room with complaints of pain because of testicular torsion and lack of blood flow. He alleges he was left untreated in the emergency room for over an hour, despite the urgency of his condition and his complaints of unrelenting pain. The suit states he underwent a right orchiectomy, suffered permanent disability, bodily injury and disfigurement, loss of capacity to enjoy life, and incurred medical expenses from the negligent actions of defendant's nursing personnel.

The plaintiff holds Adventist Health System/Sunbelt Inc., doing business as Florida Hospital - Orlando, responsible because the defendant allegedly failure to recognize the urgency of plaintiff's condition and failed to timely communicate with a physician for the timely treatment of plaintiff.

The plaintiff seeks judgment for damages against the defendant for compensatory damages, costs and such other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Robert R. Saunders of The Pendas Law Firm in Orlando.
