MIAMI – A former Verizon Wireless employee alleges her disability benefits were wrongfully terminated after almost two years of receiving payments.
Rachel Adeleye filed a complaint on April 6 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. alleging violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she has been disabled since May 6, 2014, and that the defendant paid her disability benefits through April 2016. The plaintiff holds Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly terminated plaintiff benefits and failed to provide a prompt and reasonable explanation of the termination of the benefits.
The plaintiff seeks payment of disability benefits, reinstatement to the plan benefits, payment of all costs and attorney's fees, interest, and other relief as the court deems just and proper. She is represented by Rachel Alters and Gregory Michael Dell of Attorneys Dell and Schaefer Chartered in Hollywood.
