ORLANDO – A Port Orange man alleges he was terminated from his job because of his age.

Gary Brideau filed a complaint on April 5 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Orlando Division against Adventist Health Systems/Sunbelt Inc. alleging violation of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was hired by Bert Fish Medical Center in June 2012 as project manager and was promoted to IT director in August 2015 before the defendant took ownership of the center in 2016.

The plaintiff alleges that on June 9, 2016, he was terminated on false accusations of poor work performance. He alleges he was terminated from his employment because of his age, 57. The suit states the plaintiff was immediately replaced by someone 17 years younger than him.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against defendant in an amount of more than $15,000, attorney's fees, court costs and other relief the court may deem just. He is represented by Jason L. Harr of The Harr Law Firm in Daytona Beach.
