MIAMI – A Broward County man alleges he was terminated for his complaints of discrimination.

David Coleman filed a complaint on April 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against HD Smith LLC alleging race discrimination and retaliation.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was hired in July 2016 as a warehouse manager for the night shift and was the only black manager at the Pompano Beach location. He alleges he was subjected to disparate treatment by a supervisor and that he was terminated in October 2016, three days after complaining about the treatment.

The plaintiff holds HD Smith LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly subjected him to a discriminatory, hostile and offensive work environment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant; actual, compensatory and punitive damages; interest; costs; attorney's fees; and further relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Martin Saenz of Saenz & Anderson PLLC in Aventura.
