MIAMI – A New Jersey woman alleges she was injured in a fall at a hotel in the Bahamas.
Maura Jeffers filed a complaint on March 31 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Kerzner International Hotels Limited, Kerzner International Bahamas Limited, et al. alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 21, 2013, she was at The Harborside at Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island, Nassau when she slipped on a puddle of water on the floor from the air conditioner leaking from the ceiling in the bathroom of her room. She alleges she injured her shoulder and knee.
The plaintiff holds Kerzner International Hotels Limited, Kerzner International Bahamas Limited, et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to take reasonable precautions for the safety of invitees.
The plaintiff seeks judgment for damages, punitive damages, and costs against the defendants. She is represented by Peter M. Commette of Peter M. Commette PA in Fort Lauderdale.
