TAMPA – An African-American male claims his former Jacksonville employer discriminated against him because of his race.
Cedric Alexander filed a complaint on April 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida against Carlstedt's LLC alleging discrimination.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was hired by the defendant in 1999 as a delivery driver and was terminated in May 2015. He alleges his white supervisor subjected him to adverse employment conditions and that he was terminated because the defendant claimed he had a bad attitude.
The plaintiff holds Carlstedt's LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly caused the plaintiff to suffer pain, mental anguish, emotional distress, loss of earnings and other employment and job opportunities.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant, injunction restraining continued violation, compensation for lost wages and other remuneration, reinstatement to a comparable position, compensatory and punitive damages, interest, attorney's fees, costs and further relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Satyen Gandhi of Carpenter Gandhi PLLC in Tampa.
