Consumer files suit against First Premier Bank over collection calls

Phone 07

JACKSONVILLE – A consumer alleges a debt collector continued to call her after she requested the calls stop.

Victoria Champion filed a complaint on April 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Jacksonville Division against First Premier Bank alleging that the collection agency violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that the defendant has called her multiple times to collect an alleged debt and that she instructed it to stop calling. The plaintiff holds First Premier Bank responsible because the defendant allegedly unlawfully utilized an automatic dialer and automated voice and trespassed on her rights by intruding upon her seclusion.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for actual and statutory damages, attorney's fees, costs, and further relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Jon P. Dubbeld of Berkowitz & Myer in St. Petersburg.
