Carnival passenger alleges he was injured because of slippery floor on ship

Cruise 07

MIAMI – A Georgia man alleges a cruise ship failed to warn him about the slippery condition of a floor.

Johnnie Byrd filed a complaint on March 29 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Carnival Corp., doing business as Carnival Cruise Line, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 31, 2016, he walked through the sliding glass doors into the Lido buffet/cafeteria of defendant's vessel when he slipped and fell due to the slippery condition of the floor. He alleges he has suffered serious injuries that resulted in damages, medical expenses and loss of income. The plaintiff holds Carnival Corp. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to clean the area and failed to provide warning sign in the area where he fell.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks economic and non-economic damages, costs of court, interest and all other just and appropriate relief. He is represented by John H. Hickey and Christopher B. Smith of Hickey Law Firm PA in Miami.
