MIAMI – A family alleges a car rental company failed to honor a rental agreement they made through Expedia.
Jack Stone, Miyuki Suzuki and MS filed a complaint on March 28, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Dollar Rent A Car Inc., Hertz Global Holdings Inc. and Expedia Inc. alleging failure to honor a contract.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they were visiting Miami in February and that they had previously arranged for a rental car through the defendants. They allege that Dollar failed to honor the terms of their contract and that they were left stranded at the Miami International Airport. The suit states that Dollar also made two unauthorized charges on Suzuki's credit card and that the card was placed on a security block as a result.
The plaintiffs hold Dollar Rent A Car Inc., Hertz Global Holdings Inc. and Expedia Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to ensure that defendant Dollar would honor terms offered by defendant Expedia.
The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against defendants, reimbursement for money paid for another rental car and costs of two taxi rides, and punitive damages in the amount of $1.5 million. They are representing themselves.
