Consumer claims alleged debt that Kinum Inc. attempted to collect is time barred

MIAMI – A Hollywood woman alleges that the statute of limitations on an alleged debt has experienced and that a debt collector unlawfully threatened to take legal action.

Samantha Edwards filed a complaint on March 24 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Kinum Inc. alleging that the debt collector violated Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 30, 2016, she was caused to suffer damages from receiving a call from the defendant threatening plaintiff to settle an alleged debt or face legal action. The plaintiff holds Kinum Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly falsely threatened plaintiff of a legal action that cannot be taken.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant, actual and statutory damages, attorneys' fees, costs, and further relief as may be just. She is represented by Jason S. Weiss of Weiss Law Group PA in Coral Springs.
