ORLANDO – A consumer alleges that he paid a debt in full and that the trade line has an erroneous status on his credit report.

Cesar Celis filed a complaint on March 24 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida against Trans Union LLC and Mariner Finance LLC citing the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he made a final payment on a debt in 2015. He alleges that when he checked his credit report in October 2016, the debt was still listed with a balance and charged off status. He alleges that contacted Trans Union to dispute the status of the debt. The plaintiff holds Trans Union LLC and Mariner Finance LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to correct the errors in plaintiff's credit line, forced plaintiff to refrain from applying for new credit, and failed to review all relevant information regarding plaintiff's debt.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants for damages, statutory or actual damages, punitive damages, costs, interest and attorneys' fees. He is represented by Michael Tierney of Michael Tierney PA in Winter Park.
