OCALA – A Lake County daycare and preschool is alleged to owe back pay and unpaid overtime to a former employee.

Rachel Santiago filed a complaint on March 24 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida against ACA Camp Geneva Inc. alleging that the daycare provider violated the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was formerly employed by the defendants as a caregiver. The plaintiff holds ACA Camp Geneva Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay overtime compensation at the rate of time-and-one-half her hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 per week.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks to recover unpaid wages, interest, attorney's fees and all other relief as the court may deem just and proper. She is represented by Matthew W. Birk of The Law Office of Matthew Birk in Gainesville.
