Discover Bank alleged to have continued to call consumer after he requested calls to stop

Phone 01

TAMPA – A Largo consumer alleges he was harassed by a debt collector.

Ronald Ventura filed a complaint on March 23 in the Tampa Division of the Middle District of Florida against Discover Bank alleging that the creditor violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that beginning in November 2016, the defendant contacted him to college an alleged debt. The plaintiff holds Discover Bank responsible because the defendant allegedly continued to make calls despite plaintiff's explicit demand to stop the improper calls and unlawfully utilized an automatic telephone dialing system and/or an artificial or pre-recorded voice.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants, statutory, punitive, actual and treble damages, enjoinder from further violations, and other relief the court may deem proper. He is represented by Octavio Gomez of Morgan & Morgan PA in Tampa.
