Woman alleges Carnival's negligence led to broken leg

Cruise 10

MIAMI – A Carnival passenger alleges she broke her leg because of a slippery floor.

Nikki Bonds filed a complaint on March 22 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Carnival Corp., doing business as Carnival Cruise Lines, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 19, 2016, she sustained a broken left leg and other injuries caused by the slippery floor surface of an area on defendant's vessel, the Breeze. She alleges she further suffered mental and emotional anguish, loss of enjoyment of life, physical disability, incurred medical expenses, endured surgical repair, has lost earnings and has sustained a loss of earning capacity.

The plaintiff holds Carnival Corp. responsible because the defendant allegedly disregarded the safety of its passengers because the defendant decided not to replace the tile floor surfaces despite numerous previous similar slip and fall accidents.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for all compensatory and punitive damages recoverable under the law against the defendant. She is represented by Nicholas I. Gerson of Gerson & Schwartz PA in Miami.
