Carnival passenger alleges ship's slippery floor caused fall, injuries

Cruise 08

MIAMI – A Texas woman alleges she was injured on a cruise ship because of a slippery floor.

Janna Wright filed a complaint on March 22 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Carnival Corp., doing business as Carnival Cruise Lines, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 12, 2016, she sustained a right wrist fracture and other injuries as she slipped and fell as a result of the slippery floor surface of the Lido Market Place buffet dining area on Deck 10 of defendant's vessel.

The plaintiff holds Carnival Corp. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to exercise reasonable care in the design, installation and selection of the floor surfaces, and failed to undertake adequate measures to cure the risks.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for all compensatory and punitive damages recoverable under the law against the defendant. She is represented by Nicholas I. Gerson of Gerson & Schwartz PA in Miami.
