MELBOURNE – A Brevard County woman claims a debt collector contacted her cellphone without her permission.

Donna Stealey filed a complaint on March 13 in the 18th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Brevard County against Credit Protection Association LP alleging violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that since 2014, she has received numerous calls from the defendant in its attempt to collect a debt from the previous owner of her cellphone number. The plaintiff holds Credit Protection Association LP responsible because the defendant allegedly continued to call her after she instructed it to stop.

The plaintiff seeks damages, interest, costs, attorney's fees, legal assistants' fees, and all further relies as the court deems just. She is represented by Richard Shuster and Purvi Patel of Shuster & Saben LLC in Satellite Beach.
