BUSHNELL – A Marion County motorist alleges she was injured in an accident with a tractor-trailer.

Lisa Peluso filed a complaint on March 9 in the 5th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Sumter County against Desmond Clark and Watkins Trucking Co. Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 20, 2016, she was operating her motor vehicle near the intersection of state Road 44 and Interstate 75 in Sumter County when defendant Clark, who was operating a commercial tractor-trailer owned by defendant Watkins, violently crashed into plaintiff's motor vehicle after running a red light. She alleges she has suffered injuries and incurred damages. The plaintiff holds Clark and Watkins Trucking Co. responsible because defendant Clark allegedly breached his duty to operate and maintain the subject tractor-trailer in a reasonably safe manner and Watkins Trucking Co. allegedly failed to use reasonable care in hiring, training and supervising Clark.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants for damages, costs, interest and such other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Brian W. Rush of Dan Newlin & Partners in Orlando.
