Live-in babysitter claims she was not paid per agreement with employers

Law money 06

FORT LAUDERDALE – A domestic servant alleges her Miami-Dade County employers failed to pay her a minimum wage.

Elimar Del Valle filed a complaint on March 10 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Ana Elvira Salcedo Loaiza and Rabie Bou Ghannam Jauhari citing the Fair Labor Standards Act and breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she worked as a live-in babysitter for the defendants from October 2016 to February 2017. The suit states the parties agreed the plaintiff would be paid $9 an hour and $13.50 for overtime work. The plaintiff holds Salcedo Loaiza and Ghannam Jauhari responsible because the defendants allegedly paid the plaintiff a salary that is below the statutory minimum wage.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages, all legal fees, interest, and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Peter J. Bober and Samara Robbins Bober of Bober & Bober PA in Hollywood.
