Unum Life Insurance wrongfully denied benefits, woman claims

Insurance 03

ORLANDO – An Orlando individual alleges her claim for disability benefits was wrongfully denied.

Jennifer Lachenmaier filed a complaint on March 2 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Orlando Division against Unum Life Insurance Co. of America and Little Caesar Enterprises Inc. citing the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2016, she became disabled and filed to receive disability benefits but the benefits were denied. The plaintiff holds Unum Life Insurance Co. of America and Little Caesar Enterprises Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to afford proper weight to the evidence in the records that the demonstrated the plaintiff is disabled.

The plaintiff seeks declaration that she is entitled to all past long-term benefits, interest, court costs and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by C. Ryan Morgan of Morgan & Morgan PA in Orlando.
