FORT MYERS – A Lee County woman alleges she is not paid as well as her male counterparts by her employer.

Kaisey Kenkel filed a complaint on March 2 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Fort Myers Division against The Hertz Corp. alleging violation of the Equal Pay Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that since April 2015, she has suffered damages from being subjected by the defendant to unequal and discriminatory wages. She alleges she is paid at a much lesser rate compared to her male counterparts, despite being assigned heavier workloads and having a superior workplace performance.

The plaintiff holds The Hertz Corp. responsible because the defendant allegedly deprived plaintiff of her legal rights under the Equal Pay Act.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in her favor, wages and benefits owed if not for the discrimination, front pay, compensatory damages, interest, attorney's fees, costs, litigation expenses, and further relief as the court may deem just. She is represented by Benjamin H. Yomak of Yormak Employment & Disability Law in Bonita Springs.
