FORT PIERCE – A painter and pressure washer who formerly worked in Port St. Lucie County claims he is owed unpaid overtime wages.

Josue Velasquez filed a complaint on Jan. 10 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Fort Pierce Division against Munyan Restoration, Waterproofing & Painting Service LLC citing the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he worked for more than 40 hours per week without being paid any overtime compensation and also worked through his lunch break. The plaintiff holds Munyan Restoration, Waterproofing & Painting Service LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay the plaintiff at a rate of time-and-one-half for hours worked that exceeded 40 hours per week.

The plaintiff seeks all unpaid overtime compensation, liquidated damages, and all legal fees. He is represented by J. Dennis Card Jr. and Darren Newhart of Consumer Law Organization P.A. in North Palm Beach.
