MIAMI – A woman alleges her shoulders, neck and upper back were injured by elevator doors on a Carnival ship.
Jannet Dennard Law filed a complaint on Jan. 10 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Miami Division against Carnival Corp. alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 29, 2016, she suffered physical injuries to her shoulders, neck and back when an elevator door on the Carnival Ecstasy slammed on her shoulders. The suit states the doors did not open back up and that passengers had to help pry open the doors to get her free. The plaintiff holds Carnival Corp. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly service and repair the elevator.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages in the amount of $100,000 plus interest, and all legal fees. She is represented by Jacob J. Munch and Catherine M. Saylor of Munch and Munch P.A. in Tampa.
