The Bridge at Bay St. Joe seeks payment of patient's medical claims from insurer

PANAMA CITY – A Port St. Joe nursing center alleges an insurer did not pay for the care of a patient.

LP Port St. Joe LLC, doing business as The Bridge at Bay St. Joe, filed a complaint on Dec. 29 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida, Panama City against American International Group Inc. Medical Plan and American International Group Inc. citing the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between 2009 and 2012, it suffered damages from not being paid for the medical claims made on behalf of a patient covered under the defendants' plan. The plaintiff holds American International Group Inc. Medical Plan and American International Group Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly did not pay the plaintiff for medical benefit claims for the patient.

The plaintiff seeks all benefits owing, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by John R. Zoesch III of Beggs & Lane RLLP in Pensacola.
