Consumer alleges Credit Corp. misrepresented debt amount

Late 04

MIAMI – A Broward County resident claims a debt collector misrepresented the amount owed on a debt.

Abdelali Boudlal filed a complaint on Dec. 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Credit Corp. Solutions Inc. alleging violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, in 2015, the defendant filed suit to recover a defaulted credit account of $1,739.33, and the suit was dismissed. The suit states the plaintiff filed a motion for attorney's fees in March 2016, and then the defendant submitted an amended pleading stating the plaintiff owed $1,589.33. The suit states the plaintiff had previously made three $150 payments on the debt. The plaintiff holds Credit Corp. Solutions Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly misrepresented the total amount of the debt plaintiff owed.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual and statutory damages, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. The plaintiff is represented by Joel D. Lucoff of JDL Law, P.A. in Miramar.
