In the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in and for Pinellas County, Florida, plaintiffs Isabel Perez a/k/a Isabel Perez Scott and Vitalia Perez have filed a lawsuit against defendants Rob Eric Weldy, Rasier LLC (also known as Rasier (FL), LLC), and Uber Technologies Inc. The case number is 24-001502-CI, and it was filed on April 3, 2024. The suit alleges negligence leading to a motor vehicle collision with damages exceeding $50,000.

The incident occurred in Pinellas County, Florida, where all parties involved are residents or conduct business. Represented by Perenich Law, PL, the plaintiffs assert that on July 20, 2022, they were lawfully stopped in their vehicle when defendant Weldy violently collided into them from behind with his 2008 Chrysler Aspen.

The plaintiffs claim that Weldy was negligent in operating his vehicle which resulted in serious and permanent injuries to both Isabel Perez and Vitalia Perez. They argue that he was driving at an excessive speed, failed to stop safely to avoid the collision, did not maintain a safe lookout or adequate control over his vehicle, and may have been distracted.

The plaintiffs are seeking judgment against the defendants for damages in excess of $50,000 exclusive of costs due to the alleged negligence of defendant Weldy. They contend that all conditions precedent to filing this lawsuit have been performed or waived.
