In the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit, Pinellas County, Florida, Jennifer Van Kleeck has filed a lawsuit against APY X Medical Corporation, formerly known as Bovie Medical Corporation. The case, bearing the number 24-001079-Cl, was filed on March 6, 2024.

Represented by her counsel and pursuant to Florida Rule of Civil Procedure 1.650, Van Kleeck alleges that she suffered personal injuries due to a defective medical product called Renuvion. The product was provided to her during an elective cosmetic surgery on March 2, 2022. APY X Medical Corporation is accused of manufacturing and selling Renuvion for off-label use despite being aware that such usage contravenes federal regulations and could cause personal injuries and bodily harm.

Van Kleeck's complaint states that she suffered adverse and permanent health consequences including burning, scarring, and disfigurement due to the use of Renuvion. The court has jurisdiction over this matter as it involves damages exceeding $50,000 exclusive of attorneys’ fees, interest and costs.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against APY X Medical Corporation for her injuries and damages caused by their alleged negligence in manufacturing and marketing a defective medical product. She also seeks punitive damages for what she describes as despicable conduct deserving of punishment.
