A former employee has accused Disney of racial discrimination.

Curtis Hunter filed his complaint in federal court against Walt Disney Parks and Resorts U.S. Inc., accusing the company of violating Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Florida Civil Rights Act.

According to the complaint, Hunter worked for Disney from August 2006 to May 2023 as a Marketing Strategy Manager. He says he experienced racial discrimination during his employment and noticed a pattern of discrimination against Blacks within the company. He says only three Black employees have been promoted within marketing strategy roles at various Disney divisions in the past 15 to 20 years.

He seeks to recover compensatory and liquidated damages for front pay and back pay reinstatement, lost benefits, emotional distress, pain and suffering, injunctive relief, attorney fees, court costs and other relief.
