Driver files suit after I-275 collision in Pinellas County

Car accident 37

CLEARWATER – A Dunedin man alleges he was injured in a collision on Interstate 275 by a distracted driver.

Charles Flatley filed a complaint on May 10 in the 6th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Pinellas County against Karen Siegel, Peter Siegel and GEICO General Insurance Co. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on March 17, 2016, he was traveling on I-275 when Karen Siegel, operating a vehicle owned by Peter Siegel, collided with the plaintiff. He alleges he sustained bodily injury resulting in pain and suffering, disfigurement, disability, inconvenience, aggravation of a previously existing condition, mental anguish, loss of earnings and incurred medical expenses.

The plaintiff holds Karen Siegel, Peter Siegel and GEICO General Insurance Co. responsible because Karen Siegel allegedly was distracted by engaging in other activities while driving, failed to keep a proper lookout for other motorists, and drove at an excessive speed for the roadway conditions.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against defendants for damages in an amount of more than $15,000, plus costs. He is represented by Maryann Furman of The Nurse Lawyer PA in Palm Harbor.
