Consumer claims Florida Peninsula Insurance Co. failed to pay benefits she is owed

Insurance 10

FORT LAUDERDALE – A Broward County resident alleges her insurer failed to adequately compensate her for water damages to her home.

Yolette Drouillard filed a complaint on March 23 in the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Broward County against Florida Peninsula Insurance Co. alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 11, 2015, her Cooper City home suffered water damage due to a failed plumbing line and she provided a timely notice to defendant for reimbursement of covered loss. The suit states the defendant tendered payment of $5,203.29, but it failed to include proper and adequate reimbursement for the damages.

The plaintiff holds Florida Peninsula Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to timely evaluate and pay the benefits owed to plaintiff under the terms of the insurance policy.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant for all damages to her property, together with interest on overdue payment, attorney's fees, court costs and other relief deemed just. She is represented by Leo A. Manzanilla of MSPG Law Group PA in Coral Gables.
