Woman seeks reinstatement of disability benefits from Metropolitan Life

Insurance 03

FORT LAUDERDALE – A former Verizon Wireless employee has filed suit against her insurer seeking reinstatement of her disability benefits.

Stephanie Singer filed a complaint on Feb. 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. citing the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2013, she became disabled and was initially approved to receive disability benefits until her claim was terminated in November 2015. The plaintiff holds Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to adequately investigate the merits of the plaintiff's claim.

The plaintiff seeks payment of disability benefits, immediate reinstatement, all legal fees, interest, and any other relief as this court deems just. She is represented by Alexander A. Palamara and Gregory Michael Dell of Attorneys Dell and Schaefer, Chartered in Hollywood.
