FORT LAUDERDALE – A
former Verizon Wireless employee has filed suit against her insurer
seeking reinstatement of her disability benefits.
Singer filed a complaint on Feb. 9 in the U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of Florida against Metropolitan Life Insurance Co.
citing the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.
the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2013, she became disabled
and was initially approved to receive disability benefits until her
claim was terminated in November 2015. The plaintiff holds Metropolitan
Life Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to
adequately investigate the merits of the plaintiff's claim.
plaintiff seeks payment of disability benefits, immediate reinstatement,
all legal fees, interest, and any other relief as this court deems
