MIAMI – Three Miami-Dade County residents have filed a suit alleging they were injured in an accident in the county purportedly caused by a government employee.

Juan Carlos Perez, Fidel Martinez and Jorge Luis Fernandez filed a complaint on April 20 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Miami Division against United States of America citing negligence and property damage.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on June 3, 2014, a U.S. Marshal Service employee was operating the defendant's vehicle, which collided with the rear of plaintiff Perez's stopped motor vehicle. The suit states Perez's vehicle sustained property damage and that Martinez and Fernandez suffered bodily injuries, resulting in pain, disability, mental anguish, hospitalization and medical expenses. The plaintiffs hold the United States of America responsible because the defendant's employee allegedly negligently operated and maintained its vehicle.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek compensation for Perez vehicle's damage in the amount of $5,732.16, Martinez's damage in the amount of $17,500 and Fernandez's damage in the amount of $15,000 and costs for this action. They are represented by Albert E. Moon in Miami.
