MIAMI – A Miami-Dade County man is suing his former employer over claims of unpaid overtime.

Richard Cordero filed a lawsuit on Feb. 22, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Miami Division against Bal Harbour Tower Condominium Association, citing violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between August 2009 and Feb. 13, he worked for more than 40 hours per week and did not receive any overtime pay. The plaintiff, who worked as a waiter, was allegedly paid based on a shift rate, which is $80 per lunch shift and $120 per dinner shift.

The plaintiff seeks the following: compensatory and liquidated damages, prejudgment interest, legal fees and any other relief the court deems just and proper. He is represented by Daniel T.
