FOLEY & LARDNER LLP: Sainvil Named to National Black Lawyers Top 40 Under 40

Foley and Lardner issued the following announcement on July 7.

Miami associate Akiesha Gilcrist Sainvil was named a Top 40 Under 40 by The National Black Lawyers. The honor is given to only a select group of lawyers for their superior skills and qualifications in the field who have demonstrated excellence and have achieved outstanding results in their careers.

Sainvil is a member of Foley’s Business Litigation & Dispute Resolution Practice. She represents and counsels clients in high-stakes business and complex litigation matters, with special emphasis on commercial litigation, product liability, healthcare and financial services matters. She has litigated cases on behalf of clients across varying industries, including major retailers, pharmaceutical companies, product manufacturers, financial and healthcare institutions, among others, in both federal and state courts across the nation and in arbitration.

She also clerked for U.S. District Court Judge D. Michael Fisher of the 3rd U.S. Court of Appeals. While in law school, Sainvil interned for U.S. District Court Judge David S. Cercone of Western District of Pennsylvania. In law school, she worked at the University of Pittsburgh’s immigration law clinic, where, in immigration court, she represented immigrants seeking asylum and facing removal from the United States.

She was recently named a City Lead for Miami for the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity for the 2020-2021 program year, and also was selected as a 2017 Pathfinder for LCLD.

The National Black Lawyers is a professional honorary organization composed of the Top 40 Under 40 Lawyers who represent individuals and businesses in the American legal system. Membership into the organization is by invitation only and is extended exclusively to attorneys who excel in their profession or promote diversity. The National Black Lawyers is one of very few preeminent organizations in the United States established to promote the nation’s top black attorneys and is designed to enhance the professional development of its members.
