ORLANDO — Orlando property owners are suing a construction business, alleging insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries and loss of consortium.

Roxanna Barreda and Marco A. Caceda filed a complaint June 22 in Orange County Circuit Court against Norman Matti Jokinen ans Elma K. Maldonado, doing business as A + Restoration Services LLC, alleging the defendants failed to use reasonable care in keeping, operating, cleaning and maintaining the premises in a safe condition.

According to the complaint, on April 8, Barreda and Caceda contracted the services of defendants to repair the roof of their property at 577 Short Pine Circle, Orlando. After the repair, the suit says, Barreda stepped on a corroding roofing nail in the perimeter of the property where the plaintiffs say the defendants should have inspected and conducted a clean sweep within the property.

As a result, Barreda says she suffered pain, disability, physical impairment, scarring, mental anguish, inconvenience, expense of hospitalization, medical care and treatment. Caceda says he suffered the loss of support and comfort from his wife's injuries.

The plaintiffs allege A + Restoration Services failed to use reasonable care in keeping, operating, cleaning and maintaining the premises in a safe condition resulting in client's injuries.

Barreda and Caceda seek trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000, exclusive of costs, interest, attorney fees and all other just and proper relief. They are represented by attorney Jose F. Garcia of J. Garcia Law Firm PA in Kissimmee.
