ORLANDO – An Orlando property owner alleges her insurer failed to pay the full amount she is entitled to for property loss under her policy.

Silvana Paredes filed a complaint on May 17 in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Orange County against Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Co. alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 11, 2017, her property at 9799 Hollyhill Drive, Orlando suffered a covered loss while the insurance policy with the defendant was in full force and effect. She alleges she made an application for benefits under the policy and the defendant has not paid the full amount to which she alleges she is entitled.

The plaintiff holds Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly breached the policy by failing and refusing to pay the full amount of benefits due and owing under the policy.

The plaintiff seeks the full replacement cost for the property; damages of more than $15,000 exclusive of pre-judgment interest, attorneys’ fees, costs and other relief the court may deem just and proper. She is represented by Matthew K. Mulling and Dean Makris of Makris & Mullinax, PA in New Port Richey.
