CLEARWATER — A Pinellas County woman is suing a Tarpon Springs bar and restaurant owner, alleging negligence caused injuries to the plaintiff.

Sunshine R. Leach filed a complaint April 26 in Pinellas Circuit Court against Tarpon Family Bar and Grill LLC, alleging failure to properly secure an outdoor table umbrella.

According to the complaint, on July 18, 2014, Leach was a guest at Tarpon Family Bar and Grill in Tarpon Springs. The suit says a restaurant employee lost control of the heavy umbrella he was removing from a table at the outdoor seating area, which then crashed down on top of plaintiff's head who was seated nearby.

Leach alleges suffered serious physical injury and pain, mental anguish, and incurred medical expenses for the treatment of bodily injuries.

The plaintiff alleges Tarpon Family Bar and Grill failed to inspect its premises for dangerous conditions, and failed to remedy the inherent danger posed to its invitees.

Leach seeks trial by jury, damages exceeding $15,000, exclusive of all interest, fees, court costs, and other relief the court deems appropriate. She is represented by attorneys Frank D. Butler and Kelly Ann L. May of Pinellas Park.
