ORLANDO — A Flagler County customer is suing an Orlando supermarket, alleging negligence in causing injuries.
Vidal Chavannes filed a complaint April 20 in Orange County Circuit Court against Caribbean Supercenter Inc., alleging the defendant failed to exercise reasonable care for the safety of business invitees.
According to the complaint, on Dec. 19, 2017, Chavannes went to shop at Caribbean Supercenter,5111 W. Colonial Drive, Orlando. The suit says he slipped and fell due to a liquid substance that was on the floor in the men's bathroom, causing him to sustain injuries and damages.
As a result, Chavannes says he suffered disability, disfigurement, permanent, significant scarring, the expense of hospitalization, plus medical and nursing care and treatment.
The plaintiff alleges Caribbean Supercenter failed to adequately maintain the bathroom floor, thus creating a slip or trip hazard to members of the public utilizing the premises, and creating an unreasonably dangerous condition.
Chavannes seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000, plus interest and court costs. He is represented by attorney Lawrence Gonzalez II of Morgan & Morgan PA in Orlando.
