ORLANDO — A Pasco County parent is suing an Orlando hotel property, alleging negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff's child.

Alyse Merritt filed a complaint April 10 in Orange County Circuit Court against Rosen Provinsure LLC, doing business as Rosen Plaza Hotel, alleging failure to maintain its premises in a safe condition.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 16, 2017, Merritt's minor child tripped and fell down the stairs of the defendant's lobby at the Rosen Plaza, due to a stray garland that had fallen on a step of the over-decorated staircase.

As a result, the suit says, the minor child sustained bodily injury and resulting pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, medical expenses and aggravation of a previous existing condition.

The plaintiff alleges Rosen Plaza Hotel failed to warn of the dangerous situation created by excessive decorations and failed to inspect the hotel premises for the presence of dangerous defects.

Merritt seeks trial by jury, damages that exceed $15,000, plus court costs. She is represented by attorney Megan Cummings of The Nurse Lawyer PA in Palm Harbor.
