Treasure Island resort cited in guest's fall, injuries

Slip02

CLEARWATER — A Canadian guest is suing a Treasure Island resort property, alleging negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff.

Lisa Young filed a complaint April 6 in Pinellas Circuit Court against Thunderbird Beach Resort, alleging failure to provide a safe environment for its business invitees.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 13, Young was a guest at Thunderbird Beach Resort in Treasure Island. The suit says an uneven and defective sidewalk on the resort property caused her to slip, fall and sustain injuries.

Young says she was injured in and about her body and extremities, incurred medical expenses, pain and suffering, loss of wages and will sustain financial losses in the future.

The plaintiff alleges Thunderbird Beach Resort failed to adequately warn her of the dangerous condition, and failed to adequately inspect, maintain and correct the sidewalk area.

Young seeks trial by jury and damages in excess of $15 ,000. She is represented by attorney Joseph A. Kopacz of Morgan & Morgan Tampa PA in Tampa.
