CLEARWATER — A former employee is suing a Pinellas County business, alleging retaliation, unpaid wages, and violation of applicable minimum wage law.

Juan Cuevas filed a complaint April 5 in Pinellas Circuit Court against Encompass Wall Systems Inc. and Jeff F. Stringer, alleging failure to provide employees their proper wages.

According to the complaint, Cuevas has suffered and continues to suffer lost earnings, emotional distress, humiliation, pain and suffering, front wages, as well as other damages recoverable by law, resulting from his abrupt termination in retaliation for exercising his rights to unpaid overtime and minimum wages.

The plaintiff alleges Encompass Wall Systems and Stringer refused to pay Cuevas' his applicable overtime and minimum wages as required by the laws for Cuevas working more than 40 hours per week.

Cuevas seeks trial by jury, all back wages, liquidated damages of more than $15,000, attorney fees, court costs, reinstatement, injunctive relief, plus all other damages recoverable by law. He is represented by attorney R. Martin Saenz of Saenz & Anderson PLLC in Aventura.
