ORLANDO — An Orlando homeowner is suing an insurance company, alleging breach of contract.
Cheri Anif filed a complaint April 3 in Orange County Circuit Court against Tower Hill Select Insurance Company, alleging failure to cover damages from a hurricane.
According to the complaint, on Sept. 9, 2017, while her property at 272 Kassik Circle, Orlando, was insured under a homeowners policy, it sustained a covered loss for wind and water damage as a result of Hurricane Irma. However, the suit alleges, despite Anif's efforts to furnish timely notice of the covered loss, Tower Hill has refused to pay all of plaintiff's claim, paying only $7,594.22.
The plaintiff alleges Tower Hill Select Insurance has failed to pay the true actual cash value of the loss and forced Anif to retain the services of an attorney to protect her legal interests.
Anif seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, interest, attorney fees, court costs and all other just relief. She is represented by attorney Joseph W. Ligman of Ligman Martin PL in Miami.
