CLEARWATER — A Pinellas County woman is suing a St. Petersburg property owner, alleging negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff.
Yolanda Wise filed a complaint March 27 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against Richard Kaough alleging the defendant failed his duty to maintain the property in a reasonably safe condition.
According to the complaint, on June 23, 2017, Wise was lawfully upon Kaough's property at 669 17th Ave. S., St. Petersburg when the floor inside the premises collapsed beneath her. Wise says the floor had suffered a termite damage prior to the accident that left the floor in a weakened condition.
As a result, Wise says she sustained serious injuries that left her disabled and incurred expenses for medical care and treatment.
The plaintiff alleges Kaough failed to maintain the property in reasonably safe condition and failed to warn an invitee of the condition of the floor when he knew of the existence of the condition and the resulting dangers.
Wise seeks trial by jury, compensatory damages in excess of $15,000, court costs, applicable prejudgment interest, plus all further relief the court deems appropriate. She is represented by attorney Jeanette J. Secor of St. Petersburg.
