ORLANDO — An Orlando property owner is suing an insurance company, alleging breach of contract.
Marianne Dameron filed a complaint March 26 in Orange County Circuit Court against Security First Insurance Company, alleging failure to provide proper compensation for hurricane damage.
According to the complaint, on Sept. 10, 2017, Dameron's insured property at 9833 Carmel Park Drive, Orlando, suffered a covered loss as a result of Hurricane Irma. However, the suit says, Security First has denied the rights of the plaintiff to claim benefits for damages to her property.
The plaintiff alleges Security First Insurance failed to indemnify her under the policy, and wrongly denied Dameron's insurance coverage despite her timely report of the covered loss.
Dameron seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000 for the full amount of indemnification, plus prejudgment interests, costs of suit, attorney fees and all other relief the court deems just and proper. She is represented by attorney Randall M. Shochet of Shochet Law Group in Greenacres.
