CLEARWATER — A motorist is suing another driver and an insurer, alleging breach of contract and negligence.

Shu Walter filed a complaint March 26 in Pinellas Circuit Court against Jean Douglas Press and Progressive American Insurance Co., alleging Press failed to exercise standard care and skill in the operation of a vehicle.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 4, 2016, Walter was driving in PInellas County when a vehicle driven by Press collided with her. The suit says Walter has sustained bodily injury and resulting pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of wages and medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges Progressive American Insurance has failed or refuses to pay the uninsured/ under-insured motorist benefits to Walter, and that Press failed to pay attention to traffic and keep a proper lookout for other vehicles.

Walter seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, court costs and prejudgment interest. She is represented by attorney Brad Salter of Salter, Healy LLC in St. Petersburg.
