ORLANDO — Two Orlando homeowners are suing an insurance company, alleging breach of contract.
Luis Luna and Carmen Luna filed a complaint Feb. 16 in Orange County Circuit Court against Federated National Insurance Company, alleging the insurer failed to cover damages caused by a hurricane.
According to the complaint, on Sept. 11, 2017, while the Lunas' property at 12225 Medan St., Orlando, was covered under an insurance policy issued by Federated, it sustained a covered loss due to Hurricane Irma. However, the suit says, the defendant has refused to provide coverage for the loss.
The plaintiffs allege Federated National Insurance has refused to honor the contractual obligations contained in the policy, and forced the Lunas to retain legal services to prosecute the matter.
The Lunas seek trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, court costs, interest, attorney fees and all other relief the court deems just. They are represented by attorney Michael S. Takiff of Militzok & Levy PA in Hollywood, Florida.
