Orlando property owner accuses contractor of design defects

ORLANDO — An  Orlando property owner is suing a contractor, alleging design defect.

Nancy Munoz filed a complaint Feb. 8 in Orange County Circuit Court against KB Home Orlando LLC , alleging violation of local and national building codes under the Florida Building Codes Act.

According to the complaint, Munoz's purchased home at 1414 Sawgrass Pointe Drive, Orlando, that contains certain design and construction deficiencies, including an inadequately and improperly installed stucco system. 

As a result, Munoz says she has been damaged because the defects and violations substantially reduce the value of her home and that the defects require significant repairs and renovations to correct the violations. 

The plaintiff alleges KB Home Orlando failed to comply with all applicable local, state and national building codes and regulations, including The Florida Building Code, in contravention of the Florida Building Codes Act.

Munoz seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, plus interest, court costs and all other relief the court deems just and appropriate. She is represented by attorney Joshua M. Zudar of Burnett Wilason Reeder in Tampa.
