ORLANDO — A tenant is suing an property owner, alleging negligence in the collapse of a garage roof that injured the plaintiff.

Jacob Louisius filed a complaint Feb. 8 in Orange County Circuit Court against Gilot Garby Jr. alleging failure to provide a safe and secure environment.

According to the complaint, on July 26, 2017, Louisius sustained injury in and about his body and extremities, resulting in pain and suffering, disability, scarring, mental anguish, loss of earnings, and aggravation of previously existing condition, when the garage ceiling at 4419 Colbert Court, Orlando, collapsed on top of him. The suit says the collapse was due to Garby's negligence in maintaining his rental property.

The plaintiff alleges Garby failed to maintain sufficient upkeep of his property, and created a dangerous and harmful environment for plaintiff.

Louisius seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000, plus interest and court costs. He is represented by attorney Rafael O. Nunez Jr. of The Nunez Law Firm in Orlando.
